Many projects have different applications such as On-Grid power connected systems, Off-Grid Power generation systems
or Power Back-up systems.
Meridian First Light House
First Light - Solar Decathlon Update
Monday 3rd October 2011,
We are very proud to announce that the Mitsubishi Electric sponsored First Light House has placed 3rd overall out of 19 teams from around
the globe in the US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon! Mitsubishi Electric donated product for the house, including solar panels and heating.
It has been a pleasure to have been a part of such a worthwhile project and such a competent team. Our congratulations and best wishes go out to
the Victoria University team.
The team received significant nods throughout the competition, placing 1st in Engineering and 2nd in the Architecture Contest. The Kiwi Bach has
certainly come a long way thanks to the First Light team. I am sure that the new owner of the house (which was auctioned off for just over $300,000) is
very excited about receiving their now award winning house!

Solar Power Generation with Mitsubishi Electric Photovoltaic Modules
Mitsubishi Electric is proud to support the Meridian First Light House, the Southern Hemispheres first and only ever
entry to compete in the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon for 2011.
Led by a team of students from Victoria University of Wellington, the Solar Powered “Kiwi Bach” will challenge 20
selected teams in the design, build and operation of Solar Powered Houses that are cost-effective, energy efficient and attractive.
Sharing the same passions for innovation, environmentally friendly products and sustainable technologies for New Zealand,
Mitsubishi Electric are very excited to sponsor the First Light “Kiwi Bach” by supplying the product required to ensure the
solar-powered house is designed for optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.
The installation of 28x PV-TJ225GA6 highly efficient Mitsubishi Electric Photovoltaic Panels will enable the house to
reach its aim of being a net zero home by supplying all the power it needs by the sun.
The Mitsubishi Electric PV Panels will supply energy to power all of the electrical appliances including the
Mitsubishi Electric Heating and Ventilation systems within the First Light House.
The home owner should never need to deal with the increasing electricity costs and pay another power bill again.
The Meridian First Light House will be showcasing the Solar Technologies to the public on the Wellington Waterfront Frank Kitts Park from May
7th to 24th, 12pm – 4pm weekdays and 10am - 5.30pm on weekends prior to the US Competition Event which will take place in Washington D.C in September 2011.
Through solar power technology Mitsubishi Electric is promoting widespread usage of renewable sources of energy.
Installing a solar power system in your residence or commercial facility is something you can
do right now to save on energy costs while helping protect the planet. Let's make a difference together.
