Lamp Life
A word about lamp life...
Projector Lamps are covered by a limited warranty.
The conditions are:
- Lamp fails before 200 hours total operation running time (ie. bulb explosion,
defective bulb, dead lamp).
- The usage time is less than three months after the sale of the projector or
previous replacement lamp.
In other words, if the lamp hours indicated on the projector are under 200 hours,
and the lamp fails within 3 months of purchase, we will replace the lamp under warranty.
This warranty is provided by the lamp manufacturers through Mitsubishi Electric, Japan.
BDT Limited do not offer any extended warranties on lamps.
Most manufacturers state that their lamps will work for 1500 hours, 2000 hours, or even
6000 hours. Mitsubishi projector lamps are manufactured by various companies including
Philips, Ushio and Phoenix. There is no guarantee how long each lamp will last.
As a maximum, Mitsubishi state in their instruction books, that
lamps should be expected to last up to 2000 hours. This figure
comes from the lamp manufacturers, not Mitsubishi. Should lamps fail before the
expected lifetime, Mitsubishi and/or its agents, are not responsible for replacing
lamps under warranty, unless the lamp fails within the period shown above.
The lifetime of lamps depend on a number of factors. These include how the projector is
handled, the cool down period, the temperature of air outside the projector and the
manufacturing process. It is impossible to predict the lifetime of projector lamps
because each one is different, and the handling of projectors differs under various
circumstances. The manufacturing process is such that consistency under mass production
is impossible. Locally, we cannot determine how projectors have been handled and
therefore are unable to offer any guarantee of lamp lifetime.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure that lamps perform to end users expectations,
there is no guarantee that lamps will last the lifetime stated in instruction books
or marketing material. Even if every care has been taken, lamps may fail before the
expected lifetime. End users should expect to change lamps regularly depending on
the usage of the projector. It is not recommended that end users budget for replacement
based on the maximum lifetime of lamps.
