X490U & S490U Multimedia LCD Projectors

WELLINGTON, 8 January, 2002 - Melco New Zealand Ltd has pleasure in announcing the arrival of the eagerly awaited X490U & S490U Multimedia LCD Projectors from Mitsubishi Electric, Japan.

With the brightness of 2600 ANSI lumens, the versatile X490U & S490U LCD projectors are perfect for presentations anywhere, anytime. The X490U offers true XGA (1024 x 768 pixels) resolution whilst the S490U is true SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) resolution. Both models feature Mitsubishi's exclusive award winning ColorView TM Natural Color Matrix, are compliant with Microsoft's sRGB colour profile and provide movie quality video for dazzling presentations. Picture-In-Picture allows 2 images to be viewed simultaneously in movable, sizable windows. Weighing 6.9 kgs both models can easily travel or be installed for front, rear or ceiling mount applications. A two-year warranty applies in addition to Melco's unique Emergency Roadside Assistance, which provides a free loan replacement projector within 24 hours, in the unlikely event of failure.

Features include...
  • 2600 Ansi Lumens - making it ideal for use in rooms with high ambient light
  • IRIS (Intelligent Room Illumination Sensor) - automatically adjusts the image to suit lighting conditions
  • sRGB compliant - when used with another sRGB compliant display device, colours will match
  • Natural Colour Matrix - allows individual control of primary and secondary colours for perfect matching with colour monitors.
  • New Faroudja Line Doubler - for flicker free viewing of motion video images
  • Compatibility with DVD & HDTV using component video
  • A wired remote control - giving control from long distances or whilst the projector is hidden (e.g. rear projection applications)
  • USB Port - for easy mouse control
  • 600:1 Contrast ratio - for clean crisp images
  • Illuminated Remote Control - so it can be seen in dark rooms
Easily integrated into boardrooms or lecture theatres using its RS232C control, both models are at home in virtually any environment particularly when high ambient light is a problem. The operation of the projector is very simple through the use of an intuitive on screen menu and easy to use plug & play connections.

The X490U & S490U are part of a new range of projectors available from Mitsubishi over the next 6 months. In addition to Mitsubishi's current LCD technology, the Electronics giant has recently announced plans to introduce new products using Texas Instruments Digital Light Processing Technology. Mitsubishi will manufacture its own light engines and source the DLP chips from Texas Instruments. This strategy further demonstrates Mitsubishi's commitment to providing high quality images for large screen displays.
