PRESENTATION INDUSTRY'S FIRST DLP® PROJECTOR
WITH DCDi™ FOR COLOR CRITICAL AND HOME THEATER APPLICATIONS
Mitsubishi Electric Announces the XD200U ColorView DLP Projector
WELLINGTON, January 7th, 2002 - Mitsubishi Electric, maker of award-winning, high-quality
presentation and display products, today announced the presentation industry's first DLP
projector specifically designed for colour critical applications using logos, graphics,
photographs and video.
The XD200 ColorView boasts Emmy-award winning video processing technology, known as Directional
Correlational Deinterlacing (DCDi), invented and patented by Faroudja, a division of Sage Inc.
DCDi eliminates jagged edges that appear when standard interlaced video is viewed on
progressive-scan displays, producing video images that look smooth and natural. At 2000
ANSI lumens and 3 kilograms, the XD200 ColorView is the first DLP projector that provides
Mitsubishi's proprietary ColorView™ technology along with sRGB, a Microsoft colour standard.
"Combining ColorView and sRGB with Faroudja's DCDi video technology creates a projector with
color reproduction excellence, unlike any other manufacturer," said Julian Lefebvre, Business
Development Manager, for Melco New Zealand Ltd. "It's a perfect crossover product for business
applications and the home video theater experience."
The XD200 ColorView has an MSRP of $13999, with a full two-year warranty on parts and labour,
plus a 90-day warranty on the lamp. And, like all Mitsubishi XGA models, the XD200 ColorView
comes with the Emergency Roadside Assistance (ERA) Program, a global comprehensive service
provided for units under warranty that offers next business-day replacement for down units
when or where available.
Color images change a boring presentation into a dynamic, brilliant expression of one's ideas.
Reproducing and manipulating accurate colors can be a challenge for some projectors-but not
with the XD200 ColorView. This projector uses a 0.7" single-chip DLP Digital micro-mirror
display device with a red, blue, green and white colour wheel, but it is ColorView that provides
ultimate color flexibility.
Mitsubishi Digital's ColorView Natural Color Matrix is an award-winning, patented color
algorithm that provides ultimate color manipulation and control. Unlike any other LCD or
DLP projector available today, ColorView provides an independent color control function
on six axes (red, blue, green, cyan, magenta, and yellow), and manipulates color by using
sophisticated graphic arts function. For example, if a user wants to add red into an
image, he or she simply moves a toggle bar and red is instantly added to the image-no other
colour is influenced in the color wheel.
"Typically, when you want to add a color to an image, all the other colors are affected,
like changing the tint on an old TV set," added Lefebvre. "Suddenly, when you added green
to the picture, the flesh tones were all off. This doesn't happen with ColorView. You can
change individual colors without affecting any other, making your color manipulations easy
and effective."
The XD200 ColorView also offers the sRGB color standard. This allows presenters to match
their displays without a complicated calibration process, as long as the sRGB profile is
selected on the computer and the projector when creating colorful presentations. What one
sees on the monitor will be the same as the image projected through the XD200 ColorView.
Flesh tones and natural colors are realistic and vibrant on both computer and video displays,
as a result of sRGB colors.
